Welcome back to The High Life!

Ever wonder how a digital world comes to life?

This week, we're pulling back the curtain on Highstreet World's creative process, from the first spark of an idea to the immersive environments you'll soon explore. Plus, winter is descending on our virtual realm with a spectacular Ice Garden makeover that will transform your favorite spaces into a crystalline wonderland.

Dive in to discover how our concept artists are turning ideas into (virtual) reality, one brushstroke at a time.

The Art of Concept Creation: Building the World from a Blank Canvas

Highstreet World started as little more than a notion. Now, we're building a full-fledged metaverse for players to explore. The world is packed with amazing detail, and our team is putting a lot of thought into all levels, from how cities in Highstreet World came into existence, to the flora and fauna that give every area its distinct character.

Each of those elements starts with a concept. The creatives on our team brainstorm or create mood boards to bring the idea into focus and lay the foundation for design briefs that are shared by team leads with our concept artists, who have a 'blue sky' to interpret those instructions. We have discussions about how to take 3D images into VR, and generally improve every detail—colors, textures, character styles, and other visual elements that will give you, the player, a memorable play experience.

Our concept artists are pivotal in this stage. Aside from creating concept art, they often help with storyboarding when concepts are pitched to the rest of the team.

In the past, we've teased what the glyphs of Fomoscript look like. That writing system started out as a doodle by one of our concept artists, Nicolas Jerome, who was then asked to sketch out a full alphabet.

Some of you might have Baby Drakes as pets in your Highstreet Homes. We've dreamed up all sorts of actions that you can perform with them, like petting them, taking walks, helping them practice flying, and of course playing fetch. To bring all these actions to life, Jerome sketches out how the Baby Drake will look at different moments, so that the rest of the team has a foundation to build on.

With the development of Highstreet World still in overdrive, we're sparing no detail when it comes to crafting a world that impresses players. Keep following The High Life to find out more in the future!
